Torremolinos is a well-known coastal town located on the Costa del Sol in the province of Málaga, Andalusia, southern Spain.
It is a popular tourist destination because of its long beaches, vibrant nightlife, excellent amenities
and easy access to Málaga airport.

History

Torremolinos began as a small fishing village, but quickly grew into a tourist destination in the 1950s and 1960s,
when it became a popular destination for international travelers, especially from the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe.
It was one of the first places on the Costa del Sol to focus on tourism.

Sightseeing and Activities

- Beaches:
Torremolinos has kilometers of long beaches with fine sand,
including Playa de Bajondillo, Playa del Lido and Playa de la Carihuela,
perfect for sunbathing and water sports.

- Feria de San Miguel:
The annual village festival celebrated in honor of San Miguel, the patron saint of Torremolinos,
with traditional Andalusian music, dancing, fireworks and local food.

- Semana Santa:
Holy Week is celebrated with religious processions and ceremonies
that reflect the deep Catholic traditions of the region.

Gastronomy

Torremolinos offers a wide range of dining options,
from traditional Spanish tapas bars to international restaurants along the coastline.

- Pescaíto frito:
Deep-fried fish, a local specialty often served as a tapa.

- Espetos de sardinas:
Grilled sardines on a stick, a classic dish on the Costa del Sol.

La Carihuela

Also, La Carihuela in Torremolinos is very well known among the Dutch.
It is also called 'little Holland' or 'the Dutch village'.
Here are many Dutch restaurants, bars and tourist accommodations of Dutch operators.
Also, every year the Dutch King's Day is celebrated here in a big way on the square, with performances by Dutch artists,
there are several stalls with Dutch products and all of Carihuela is colored Orange!
