Frigiliana is an enchanting whitewashed village located in the province of Málaga, in the region of Andalusia, southern Spain.
The village is located in the mountains of the Sierra de Almijara, about 6 kilometers inland from the coastal town of Nerja.
Frigiliana is known for its picturesque streets, historic architecture,
flowered patios and beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and surrounding mountains.

History

Frigiliana has a rich history dating back to Phoenician times, as evidenced by archaeological finds in the area.
During Moorish rule, it was known as "Ifriqiyyah" and served as an important agricultural settlement and trading post.
After the Christian reconquest in the 15th century, Frigiliana was incorporated into the kingdom of Castile
and retained its Moorish influences in its architecture and cultural traditions.
