Cómpeta


 

Cómpeta is a picturesque village located in the province of Málaga, in the autonomous region of Andalusia, southern Spain.
The village is located in the Axarquía region, about 18 kilometers inland from the coast of Costa del Sol.
Cómpeta is known for its whitewashed houses,
narrow cobbled streets and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the Mediterranean Sea.

History

Cómpeta has a rich history dating back to the time of the Phoenicians and Romans,
as evidenced by archaeological finds in the area.
During the Moorish rule, the village played a strategic role due to its location and agricultural activities.
After the Christian reconquest in the 15th century, Cómpeta grew into a thriving agricultural center,
best known for its wine production.
