Benalmádena


 

Benalmádena is a lively coastal town and municipality located in the province of Málaga, in the autonomous region of Andalusia, southern Spain.
It is located on the Costa del Sol, about 12 kilometers west of Málaga,
and is known for its beautiful beaches,
lively marina, rich history and various tourist attractions.
Benalmádena attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world every year because of its Mediterranean climate,

History

Benalmádena has a long history dating back to prehistory,
with archaeological sites dating back to the Phoenician and Roman periods.
Under Moorish rule, the village flourished as an agricultural settlement,
and after the Christian reconquest in the 15th century
developed further as an important fishing community.
In the 20th century, Benalmádena began to develop rapidly as a tourist destination,
with the construction of hotels, resorts and recreational facilities.
